Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 1st, 1986.

The main symbol is a star, Altair in the constellation Eagle, and thus a canting symbol. The city was named after the star. The wavy bar symbolises the Turvo river in the city. The arrows are the symbol of St. Sebastian, patron saint of the city.

The shield is surrounded by corn and orange branches, the main agricultural crops in the area.
