NO 84 SQUADRON, ROYAL AIR FORCE
History: Raised at Beaulieu in January 1917.
Official blazon
A Scorpion Or.
Motto: Scorpiones pungunt.
Origin/meaning
The Scorpion has been used by the Squadron for some time. The link is somewhat allegorical, being that at one time the unit was stationed in the East and used Jupiter engines. According the Mythology has it that the Scorpio was raised to heaven and granted celestial status by Jupiter. The Motto translates as "Scorpions sting". The badge was granted in December 1936.
