Origin/meaning
The oldest known seal of Söllingen dates from 1825 and shows the letter V in a circle, surrounded by branches. The meaning or origin of this V is unknown. A later seal, dating from 1870, shows in a shield the letters SLV.
In 1900 the council applied for new arms and the State Archives proposed the arms with the crossed sword and palm leaf. These are the symbols of St. Mauritius, the patron saint of the village. The council approved the arms on December 26, 1900.
