Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on March 9, 1960.
The historical arms of the village showed St. Mary with child, see below. The saint appeared on the common seal of Erlenbach and Morlautern from 1684.
The seal showed the arms of Erlenbach and St. Mary as supporter. Later the saint was placed in a shield ans used as arms for Morlautern.
In 1948 the local council applied to have the arms officially granted, but this was refused on the basis of more arms in the Pfalz showing St. Mary. Only in 1960 the new arms were granted, with the lily as a symbol of St. Mary, the reed as a semi-canting element (Moor is marshland in German, reeds are common in marshlands) and a forest hook, taken from the arms of the Kaiserslautern Abbey, which had possessions in the village for many centuries since 1215.
