Origin/meaning

The arms with the sword is a symbol for defence. The two wings are derived from the arms of the Petrovszky family, governors of the Baranya county, who resided in the village in the 19^th century. The wings are also a symbol of freedom. The cross symbolises the four villages that merged in 1979 into the new municipality of Bükkösd.

The crown is a typical medieval crown, indicating that Bükkösd is an old city. The crest shows the patron saint of the city, St. John of Nepomuk on a bridge. These two elements are taken from the historical seal of the city.
