Origin/meaning

The County Virneburg was a small county located in the present-day German state of Rheinland-Pfalz around the town of Virneburg. It existed as an independent territory until 1794 when it was incorporated in the French Empire.

The arms show 7 diamonds, taken from the arms of the Counts of Virneburg (rulers until 1545) and have been used for the territory ever since.
