Origin/meaning

The main charge of an octopus is the armiger's favourite animal. The or and azure represent their connection to County Clare in Ireland - its county colours are blue and yellow. The arm and sword issuant from a head wound represent their mental struggles, both past and present - the head wound being non-metaphorical - as well as their admiration for melee weaponry.
