DIFFERTEN
State : Saarland
District (Kreis) : Saarlouis
Incorporated into : 1974 Wadgassen
Official blazon
- (de) Unter silbernem Wellenschildhaupt, darin drei rote gemeine Kreuze, in Gold eine gestürzte blaue Spitze, belegt mit einer goldenen Lilie
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on August 10, 1967.
The arms symbolise the etymology of the name, which is derived from a deep ford (furt) in the Bist river. The French fleur-de-lys symbolises that the village was part of France from 1766-1815. The chief refers to the Waldgassen Abbey, to which the area historically belonged.
