Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 27, 1978.

The area of the Verbandsgemeinde historically was ruled by the counts of Hanau-Lichtenberg and later by the Counts of Hessen-Darmstadt. The arms thus show the arms of Hanau and the striped lion of Hessen. The bordure is the symbol for a Verbandsgemeinde and is shown in the colours of Hessen.
