Origin/meaning

The point in the base of the shield symbolises the name, Oberhalb des Steines, or Above the stones. The fleur-de-lis is taken from the seal of the local hero Benedikt Fortuna from the late 15^th century.
The old seals of the district showed the ibex from the arms of Graubünden with the St. Mary as supporter.
