SANKT OSWALD-MÖDERBRUGG
State : Steiermark
District : Murtal (until 2015 Judenburg)
Incorporated into : 2015 Pölstal
Official blazon
Über einer in Blau wachsenden dreijochigen spitzbogigen goldenen Brücke mit zwei Pfeilern in Rot ein schreitender herschauender goldener Löwe mit einem goldenen Salbgefäß in den Vorderpranken.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on June 13th, 1994.
St. Oswald is a patron saint of miners. One of his attributes is a jar of ointment, another a banner of the arms of England (Oswald was a prince of one of the seven Saxon kingdoms in today's England). So the jar of ointment and a leopard (for England) were put into the arms along with the Möderbrücke, a bridge documented since the Middle Ages.
