MÜNSTERTAL DISTRICT
Canton : Graubünden
Incorporated into : 2009 Val Müstair
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms show Charlemagne en profil, as a symbol for the Abbey in Müstair, which was founded during the reign of Charlemagne. It has been stated that he founded the abbey himself, but that is not certain. The Abbey played a major role in the local history. The blue colour is taken from the arms of the Abbey. The old seals of the district only showed the ibex of the arms of Graubünden.
