HITTENKIRCHEN
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Rosenheim
Additions : 1978 Bernau am Chiemsee
Official blazon
Gespalten von Rot und Silber; vorne über goldenem Dreiberg ein schwebendes goldenes Wiederkreuz auf Sockelplatte, hinten übereinander vier blaue Wellenbalken.
Origin/meaning
The right hhalf of the arms show a mountain and a cross. The mountain is taken from the old arms o fthe Counts von Falkenstein, who were mentioned as the first Lords of Hittenkirchen in 1160. The cross refers to the -Kirchn (church) part of the name. The thicker horizolntal bar of the cross makes it look like an H, the town's initial.
The left half symbolises the Chiemsee lake on which the village is situated.
