19TH AIR FORCE, US AIR FORCE

History: Constituted as Nineteenth Air Force on 1 July 1955. Activated on 8 July 1955. Inactivated on 2 July 1973. Activated on 1 July 1993. Inactivated on 12 July 2012. Activated on 1 October 2014. Served as the command and planning element for deploying tactical air forces and the operational headquarters for the composite strike force of units drawn from the Tactical Air Command between 1955 and 1973. After its reactivation and assignment to the Air Education and Training Command in 1993, ensured the execution of Air Force initial qualification and follow-on combat crew flying programs whose graduates then reported to war-fighting commands. Also conducted annual air crew standardization and evaluation visits to its units to assess the effectiveness of its training programs. Inactive from 12 July 2012-1 October 2014, when it was activated again with the same mission it had previously performed.
