Origin/meaning
The two wavy bends symbolise the Nordradde and Mittelradde rivers in the municipality. The cross refers to the fact that Christianity cam already rather early to the region, the church of Klein Berßen was built in 1218. The wheat-ear symbolises the agricultural character of the municipality, the wheel the local industries. The colours are those of the Corvey Abbey, to whom the region belonged until 1252 (political) and 1667 (church) as well as those of the siccessor of the abbey the State of Münster.
