Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 17, 1976.
The eagle in the arms formed part of the former arms of both municipalities. The arms of Ludwigshafen showed the eagle with a breastshield with a cross for the local hospital. The arms of Bodman showed the eagle in the right half of the shield and in the left half a linden branch, derived from the arms of the Lords of Bodman. The new arms thus combine the symbols of Bodman in the combination of Ludwigshafen.
