Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 27, 1964.

The arms show the geographical position of the village, West of the river. The hammer and anvil symbolise the importance of the iron industry in the village, which has been of importance for many centuries. The black and silver colours are derived from the colours of the State of Köln, to which the area historically belonged.
