Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
BOKEL
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Cuxhaven (until 1977 Wesermünde)
Samtgemeinde : Samtgemeinde Beverstedt (until 2011)
Incorporated into : 2011 Beverstedt
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The beech is a canting element. The village was mentioned in 1105 as Bochla, where Boch means beech. The four branches symbolise the four villages, Hafsbüttel, Seebeck, Kransmoor and Langenfelde in the municipality. The scythe is a symbol of agriculture, as is the green colour of the shield.
Literature : Wappen des Landkreises Wesermünde, 1973
