În poarta cetății se află un leu rampant, poziționat spre dreapta, încoronat și limbat, ținând în labe o spadă, totul de aur. Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu 5 turnuri crenelate.

The fortress is the city-fortress that in the Middle Ages was an important economic, cultural, military and religious center. Sighișoara Fortress is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, being the best preserved inhabited medieval fortress, so that it still ensures the fame of the locality in the country and in the world.
 
The golden lion signifies the legal status that the city had in the past, which gave it the right to pronounce the death penalty jus gladii - as well as the ability to defend himself. The lion symbolizes power, beauty, generosity, and today signifies the strength of rebirth and flourishing of the locality.
 
The mural crown with 5 crenellated towers falls the locality in the category of municipalities.
