GRAFLING

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Deggendorf
Additions : 1972 Alberting, Hirschberg; 1978 Bergern

Wappen von Grafling

Official blazon

Unter grünem Schildhaupt, darin ein durchgehendes silbernes Andreaskreuz, gespalten von Blau und Silber, belegt mit einem gemauerten goldenen Balken.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 15, 1981.

The lower part is derived from the arms of the Gotteszell monastery, which played a major role in the local history. The red field was changed into blue, to obtain the colours of Bayern. The chief shows a cross, symbol of St. Andrew, the patron saint of the town. The green colour symbolises the Bayrischen Wald forests.
