KANDEL

State : Rheinland-Pfalz

Wappen von Kandel

Official blazon

  • (de)

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1856 by King Maximilian II of Pfalz-Bayern and are based on the village seal known since the early 15th century. The sword is derived from the arms of the local Lords of Kannel, who used two crossed swords. The origin of the stars is not known, but they may be a symbol for the St. Mary, the patron saint of the church.
