State : Steiermark
District : Liezen

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 8, 1989.

Weng was a possession of the Benedictine monastery of Admont. Its name means a Wiese (meadow). The arms are based on the coat of arms born by vassals of the monastery in the Middle Ages. The upper bar now represents the form of the two Buchstein mountains, the grass hints at the name of the municipality.

The marten was put into the arms, because in medieval times the village had to supply the monastery with marten furs.
