Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 23, 1992.

The name means "Bischofsdorf", the bishop's village, because it belonged to the Archbishop of Salzburg in the Middle Ages. Salzburg promoted viticulture. Hence, a bishop's mitre and vine-leaves were put into the arms.
