SPRIMONT
Province : Liège
Additions : 1977 Dolembreux, Gomzé-Andoumont, Louveigné, Rouvreux
Official blazon
D'argent au lion de gueules, couronné, armé et lampassé d'or.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on October 10, 1908.
Sprimont historically was a part of the Duchy of Limburg and the arms thus show the lion of Limburg. The oldest seal of the council of Sprimont dates from the 13th century and shows only a shield with the lion. In the 16th and 17th century the crown on the lion disappeared, but was restored in 1780.
