TONNA
State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Gotha
Additions : Burgtonna, Gräfentonna
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on May 31, 1996.
The name Tonna is probably derived from the Celtic Dun- (meaning hilly area) and aha (meaning place near a river). The wavy pale symbolises the river part of the name.
The tower is derived from an old seal of Gräfentonna.
The lion is taken from the arms of the Counts von Gleichen, who originated from the area.
