MEDELPAD
Official blazon
Medelst vågskuror fyra gånger delat av blått, silver, rött, silver och blått.
Origin/meaning
The arms are known since the 1570s and simply indicate the many streams and rivers in the province.
The arms as shown by Liljeblad, 1878 |
The arms in the Kaffe Hag album +/- 1935 |
For the funeral procession of King Gustav Vasa in 1560 other arms were shown for Medelpad; a black beaver in a silver field. The beaver was an important fur animal in the area. Why the arms were changed is not known.
