CANALS

Region: Comunidad Valenciana
Province : Valencia

Escudo de Canals/Arms (crest) of Canals
Official blazon
Spanish blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1956.

It symbolises the conquest of Canals by James I of Aragon (4) and its inclusion in the Kingdom of Valencia (1), together with a 'typical view of the local topography', where the name of the municipality comes from (3) and references to Pope Callixtus III, who was born here (2) and St Anthony the Great, the patron saint of Canals (5).
