Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
KATZENBACH
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Kaiserslautern
Incorporated into : 1969 Hütschenhausen
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 2, 1956.
The arms show that the area was historically ruled by the Pfalz (lion) and the Teutonic Order (cross with eagle). The village belonged to the Ramstein territory in the Pfalz and used the seal of Ramstein. The lion is taken from that seal and is the lion of the Pfalz.
The wawy pale is a canting element (Bach is stream, brook).
