State : Sachsen
District (Kreis) : Erzgebirgskreis (until 2008 Annaberg)
Additions : 1912 Kleinrückerswalde
Incorporated into : 1949 Annaberg-Buchholz
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted at the same time as the city rights, by Emperor Maximilian I on March 22, 1501.
The arms of Annaberg show St. Anne the patron saint of the city, surrounded by two miners and a small shield with miner's tools. Around the city silver is mined since 1492, and mining is still of importance.
