Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on September 15, 1958. The town belonged to the State of Mainz from the 14th century until 1802. The arms thus show the wheel of the State of Mainz, but in opposite colours since the mid 19th century. The use of the wheel as village symbol is known since 1550.
