GÄRTRINGEN
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Böblingen
Additions: 1972 Rohrau
German | In gespaltenem Schild vorne in Rot ein nach links gekehrter goldener Adlerfang, hinten in Gold ein roter Kelch. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on July 24, 1957.
The beaker as symbol for Gärtingen is mentioned in 1681, but no seals or other images with the beaker are known. The beaker may be the symbol of St. Vitus, the patron saint, or it may be a symbol for the former Herrenberg Abbey, to which the local parish belonged.
In 1920 the local council adopted the eagle's claw as arms, taken from the arms of a local noble family. In 1957 the present arms were granted where both symbols were combined. The colours are the colours of Herrenberg.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
