Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on August 18, 1961.
The arms show a lion holding a plough iron. The lion is probably taken from the arms of Baden from 1807, as in the early 19th century the village used a seal with the arms of Baden. In the middle of the 19th century the village adopted a seal with only a lion, which was holding a letter D, the town's initial.
The 19th century seal of Dauchingen |
In 1902 the State Archives of Baden proposed to the village to replace the D with a plough iron in the colours of Baden (red-gold) and with the lion facing right. Why the plough iron was chosen is not known. The municipality did not formally adopt the arms and they were not granted. However, they replaced the letter D in the arms with the plough iron, but kept the lion facing left. Finally in 1961 the arms were granted in the way the village had used them since 1902.
