Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 4, 1965.

The chamois in the upper half symbolises the situation of the municipality in the Bavarian Alps. The lower half shows the waterlily leaves, taken from the arms of the Tegernsee Abbey. The abbey played a major role in the local history for many centuries.
