WALLERSTEIN

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Donau-Ries (until 1973 Nördlingen)
Additions : 1972 Birkhausen, Ehringen, Munzingen

Wappen von Wallerstein

Official blazon

Geteilt; oben in Rot ein gestürzter, unten in Gold ein aufrechter silberner Sparren, die mit den Spitzen an der Teilungslinie zusammenstoßen.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1567 by the Counts of Oettingen-Wallerstein. In any case, the first seal of the town dates from the same time and shows an angel holding the arms.

The meaning of the arms is unknown. The colours are known since 1811. The arms were granted again in 1835.
