ROTENBERG
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Rhein-Neckar Kreis (until 1973 Heidelberg)
Incorporated into : 1972 Rauenberg
Official blazon
In Blau auf grünem Dreiberg ein goldener Zinnenturm, darauf drei Türmchen mit spitzen Helmen.
Origin/meaning
Rotenberg received city rights in 1338 from Emperor Ludwig of Bayern. The oldest seal dates from 1499 and shows already a castle on a mountain (Berg). All later seals and arms show a similar composition, but the shape of the building differs widely during the centuries.
