JOSEF FRANZ VON WECKERT
Born : September 12, 1822
Deceased : March 13, 1889
Bishop of Passau, 1875-1889
English | blazon wanted |
- (de) Auf grünem Gründ ein silberner Hahn, dahinter von Silber und Rot gespalten.
Origin/meaning
The rooster may be a canting symbol (Wecker=somebody who wakes up a person), and also a symbol of vigilance. The division of the shield may be a reference to the Dioces eof Augsburg, where he was a priest before besoming bishop of Passau.
