A native wood pigeon (Kereru) perching, superimposed on a terrestial globe on which NZ is highlighted.
Motto: Tara ki uta , tara ki tai = We span the land, or mor fully We span or cover the land form coast to coast.

Wood Pigeon, like no 42 Squadron fly over all parts of New Zealand. The Terrestial Glob respresent the much wider field covered by the Squadron. The badge was approved in November 1952.
