The arms show the arms of Admiraal Piet Hein, which can be considered canting. A magpie was often called a 'pietje' in Ducth and a fence  is taken from omheining - hein.

ZR.MS. PIET HEIN, NETHERLANDS NAVY

History: The Name was used by a Destroyer in service 1945-1961 and a Frigate of the Kortenaer-Class in service from 1981-1998. The Frigate was then sold to the United Arab Emirates.
