The area was a possession of the Chapter of the Cathedral in Freising until the 14<sup>th</sup> century. From the 14th until the late 18<sup>th</sup> century the village was a possession of the Counts of Baumgarten. The arms thus combine the lion of the Counts of Baumgarten with a crosier for the Bishops of Freising.
