Vaqueiros.gif

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 4, 2000.

The chief shows the dove of the Holy Spirit, the local patron saint. The two satrs are taken of the arms of the Coutinho family. D. Gonçalo Coutinho, Lord of Vaqueiros, ordered a large painting in 1596 from the local painter Luis de Camoes, which showed the family coat of arms.

The base represents the Alviela river.
