Un scut roșu, încărcat cu un tânăr înaripat, de aur, ținând în mâna dreaptă o sabie din același metal, cu care lovește un balaur negru, pe care îl calcă cu picioarele. În mâna stângă personajul poartă o balanță de aur, cu talgerele în echilibru; în șef, pe fond roșu, un brâu crenelat de argint. Scutul este timbrat cu o coroană murală de argint, formată din șapte turnuri crenelate.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 30, 1998.
The chief signifies the strategic importance of the settlement (gateway to Transylvania); the winged young man evokes the fight against evil; the balance attests the attribute of the administrative body of the city to distribute justice.
