Origin/meaning

The First and Fourth Fields show the Arms of the Diocese of Linköping. The Other Fields are the Bishop's Personal Arms. Those are based on those granted to the Markovits Family in 1741 by Maria Theresia, Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary. The Arms ws granted in Her Role as Queen of Hungary. The Colours Red and Blue of the Field symbolises The Holy Spirit and Saint Mary, Mother of Jesus. The Motto which translates as Be Brave, give life to the World is form two Bible verses Ps. 27:14 and Joh 6:33.
