Origin/meaning

The first quarter shows the cross of the Archdiocese of Paderborn. The second quarter shows the arms of Verl, where he was born. The third quarter shows an Agnus Dei, the symbol of Jesus as an innocent lamb. The fourth quarter ssymbolises the Parish of St. Paul (sword) and St. Peter (key) in Siegen (blue and gold), where he was a parish priest.
