Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 16, 1993.

The poplars are a canting element, the name is derived from the Slavic word for poplar, topolica. The lower half symbolises that the village is situated on an island. The church is the local landmark, dating from the 16th century.

Already in 1990 the process to obtain arms was started. The villagers initially voted for the eagle of Brandenburg, but this was rejected by the State. After many proposals the above arms were granted just in time for the 675th anniversary of the village.
