Azure, a silver eagle with a halo of the same, on his breast a roundel gules charged with a silver hand of St. Francis.

Origin/meaning

As common in US episcopal heraldry, the arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.

The Bishop's family name is indicated by the apostolic, Johannine eagle, and his baptismal name by one of the conformities of St. Francis.
