District (Kreis) : Uckermark
Incorporated into : 2001 Prenzlau

Wappen von Dedelow
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on ?

The first proposal of the arms was made in 1999:

Wappen von Dedelow

The quartered shield is the arms of the Hohenzollern family, Margraves of Brandenburg (and later Kings of Prussia), as the area historically is part of Brandenburg. The first quarter shows a bend with the roses taken from the arms of the Von Klützow family 2187a.wsa.jpg, Lords of the village from 1375 until the 19th century. The tree roses also indicate the 3 villages in the municipality.

The crow refers to the largest nesting colony of crows in the Uckermark district and thus are typical for the village.

The State Archives did not agree with the quartered shield and finally a design with the crown on a hill with the arms of Von Kützow was granted.
