Origin/meaning

The Duchy was one of the partitions of the Duchy of Pommern and existed from 1295-1478 when it was re-incorporated into Pommern. Since 1625 it was part of Pommern and later Prussia. The arms are a derivation of the griffin of Pommern above a chequy field. These arms were in the 13th century already used by the Lordship Bernstein Land.
