Origin/meaning

The Winged Number 1 alludes to the Airborne role and the Number of the Unit. The Army Concisted of the US XVIII Airborne Corps (three later four Airborne Divisions) and the British 1st Airborne Corps (two British Airborne Divisions and a Independent Polish Parachute Brigade).
