"In goud een groot-uitgeschulpt St.Andrieskruis van sabel, in den boven- en in den benedenhoek vergezeld van eene lelie van keel en in de zijhoeken van eene vijfbladige kroon van hetzelfde. Het schild gedekt met een gouden kroon van 3 bladeren en 2 parels."

Oorsprong/verklaring :
Het wapen is opgebouwd uit elementen van wapens van vroeger invloedrijke families. De lelie komt van het geslacht Van Amersfoort (zie Leusden), die vroeger belangrijke bezittingen in de gemeente hadden.

Het kruis is afgeleid van het wapen van het geslacht Lockhorst. Dit geslacht, afkomstig uit Leusden, had het gerecht Coelhorst in de huidige gemeente in bezit. (zie ook Sliedrecht).

De kroon is afkomstig van het wapen van het geslacht de Coninck, eigenaren van de heerlijkheid Emiclaer.
