"In goud 3 palen van azuur en een hartschild van zilver, beladen met een adelaar van sabel."

Oorsprong/verklaring :
In de brief van de aanvraag van het wapen van 29 april 1815 werd als achtergrond alleen de Cronijk van Zeeland gegeven, de bijgevoegde tekening is als zodanig overgenomen. Deze tekening werd door het gemeentebestuur overigens aangeleverd op de achterkant van een speelkaart, klaveren 10...

De oorsprong van het wapen is niet bekend. Geen van de eigenaren van de heerlijkheid voerde een dergelijk wapen. Het hartschild zou een sprekend element kunnen zijn, maar waar de palen vandaan komen is niet bekend.
